KIA Networking Event


The second, and last, KIA Networking Event for 2017 was held on Wednesday, October 11th, with 14 attendees from ten member companies. It was a quality group which learned about each other, offered accolades and testimonies, plus made connections.

A well-known and trusted industrial real estate sales and leasing company, CBRE, works with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and Kamehameha Schools right in Kakaako.

Edward Jones is located in the Gold Bond Building and works with individuals and small businesses to understand inflation, prepare for education, buy first or second home, help save for investment or primary residence and builds relationships with honesty.

Honolulu Design Center has a kitchen, bath and wardrobe department that does everything from conceptional design, documents, drawing, project management, installation, etc and works with many Kakaako developers.

The newest KIA member is Ideal Properties, who has a great stake in Kakaako, as it owns property and represents property owners in the area.

Kaiser Permanente has their main office in Kakaako, while working in Hawaii to offer many companies and individuals with their and affordable health care coverages. They have no doctor shortage and will also be opening their own medical school in California.

LegalShield is just one of the businesses that Peterson Rosario (GSB Hawaii) does to help identity theft, restoration, employee benefits, with access to a lawyer at no extra charge (Peterson is the KIA webmaster and does KIA's monthly newsletter layouts).


MD Restoration is a local company that treats everyone like family, as they provide top quality service that includes water extractions, mold remediation, carpet cleaning, etc.




Obun Hawaii has been around for forty years as a commercial print, offset large quantity, digital print, and small runs, as well as having a subsidiary that provides warehouse space, staff to pick and pack, mail and ship, call orders, inventory, etc.


Sherry A. Goya, LLC (she has been the Executive Director for KIA since 2001) started her 25th year as a business consultant working with individuals and small companies to do their marketing, website, bulk mailing, newsletters, etc.


The company doing many high rise, commercial and residential window cleaning, as well as exterior surface cleaning is World Wide Window Cleaning.



Waikiki Business Improvement District

Jennifer Nakayama, President of the Waikiki Business Improvement District, contacted KIA Executive Director Sherry Goya to introduce herself and just "talk story." They met at the Stage Cafe in the Honolulu Design Center since it is quiet, clean, and has really good teas, coffees, and food. Jennifer said that if KIA ever needs their support, input, information, etc. WBID would be available. If any KIA member would like to reach out to them, feel free to email jnakayama@waikikibid.org.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser made a big announcement in their October 11th edition, announcing "Isle real estate firm joins with Chicago outfit" and pertains to NAI ChaneyBrooks, who has been a very long-time member of KIA. Congratulations and best wishes go out to them as they are now known as Cushman & Wakefield ChaneyBrooks. "This new partnership will benefit both our local and global clients in Hawaii and Guam with deep local knowledge and a network of global expertise," said Steve Smith, a western region president for Cushman. Steve Sombrero, president of ChaneyBrooks, will continue in the same position, with Joseph Haas as the managing director and principal broker for Cushman & Wakefield ChaneyBrooks.
