KIA Wine Tasting Event

Did you see the March 1st MidWeek article on Chuck Furuya and Vino Italian Tapas and Wine Bar? He has been in the food and wine industry for more than 40 years. Vino recently was named a 2017 James Beard Foundation Award semifinalist in the Outstanding Wine Program category. How fortunate is KIA to have Chuck, with Vino's as the location of KIA's first Wine Tasting Event for 2017. Attached to this newsletter is the article and event registration form.

Check your calendars today and sign up to attend on Wednesday, March 29th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Waterfront Plaza/Restaurant Row, lots of validated parking. The evening will include wines by the glass, a complimentary assortment of pupu prepared tapa style, a great network opportunity, and many door prizes of wine and gift cards. Mahalo to KIA President Steve Sullivan for donating some wine and gift cards, as well as Dave & Busters for their gift certificates. Anyone wishing to donate to the door prizes should contact Sherry Goya, KIA Executive Director at 722-8487 or sgoyallc@aol.com.

Cost is $99 per person if pre-paid or $110 at the door, with a reservation. Invite your family, friends, and coworkers to support the Kakaako Improvement Association.

KIA Member News

The March 1st issue of MidWeek (a KIA member for years) features KIA member Honolulu Design Center, aka Inspiration Home Furnishings owner-CEO Thomas Sorensen (see the cover attached to this newsletter). As a frequent visitor to his 1250 Kapiolani location (to meet people at their downstairs Cafe), KIA Executive Director runs into Thomas all the time and knows he is a very hands-on owner with a great vision. The MidWeek article talks about Inspiration's new Kapolei store in Kapolei Commons between TJ Max and Target stores.

Save the Date

Wednesday, April 12th will be the first KIA Networking Event for 2017.  It will be held in the Kakaako Conference Room of Ward Warehouse from 11:30am.  It is a "brown bag" event at no cost, so just bring your lunch and drink.  RSVPs will be taken so that there are enough tables and chairs for everyone.  As in the past, all attendees will be able to introduce themselves and give a short presentation.  At the end, we go back around the room with any specific questions, testimonies, as well as hand out flyers, brochures, etc.  A separate email will be sent at the end of March to take RSVPs.

HCDA News
