KIA Networking Event

The second, and last, KIA Networking Event was held on Wednesday, October 30th at Restaurant Row/Warterfront Plaza with quality attendance by seven KIA members and KIA Executive Director.  Everyone made a presentation on their company, and there was engaging conversation to get to know each other's business.  There were exchanges of business cards that will produce future business among KIA members.

Here is a little summary of those who attended:

KIA Board of Director, Peterson Rosario, opened dooplikit, which is the fastest and most mobile 3D scanning company in Hawaii. Samples of sandstone figurines were shared with attendees as miniature statues or busts of “real people.” They are perfect for  wedding cake toppers, Christmas ornaments, “Elf on the Shelf” pieces, etc. This company will set aside a portion of their profit to nonprofits.    

Secure is an Australian based corporation which represents Secure Parking, Secure Bike Share-Biki Bike in Hawai'i. They are also opening a high-end, high-scale car wash(s) in 2020 throughout Oahu. Secure Bike Share is also wanting to meet the growth for Biki Bike that we have experienced due to the success of the last expansion into Honolulu’s residential neighborhoods.

A long-time KIA member is Cushman & Wakefield Chaney Brooks, a full-service real estate company with property management, sales, leasing, and commercial real estate for 59 years in Hawaii.

Akamai Wahine is a psychic located in the Ohana Hale Marketplace, where there are multiple units of food establishments, handmade and local items, clothes, jewelry, and more. Located in the old Sport Authority location, it is air conditioned, has lots of parking, and a stage with tons of entertainment.

A company that does a lot of good business in Kakaako is MD Restoration. They are a full-service 24-hour restoration company that was established seventeen years ago. As a  locally-owned, private company, they currently have 120 employees with 70 vehicles and are looking for more staff, starting at $20/hour.

Bank of Hawaii provides a full-service banking experience for all of your needs. They strive to build deep relationships and excellent service for all customers including private banking, estate planning, trust services, investments, retail banking and commercial banking. Continuing to bring technology forward, their newest digital service is the recent implementation of Zelle, now giving customers the ability to transfer funds seamlessly to one another.

The Ihara Team, licensed with Keller William Honolulu, has provided buying, selling and property management services, along with education through free public seminars for over 14 years. As Hawaii's leading Senior Real Estate Advocate they provide "The Complete Solution" along with Senior Move Managers, DeClutter Hawaii, Hi Property Management, Stage Hawaii, and Silver Spoons assisting our Kupuna with their seniors living options, transitioning, moving, renting, and staging services.

Sherry A. Goya, LLC has been with KIA since 2001, ever since Sherry became their Executive Director. This company specializes in marketing for individuals and small companies, by creating newsletters, postcards, flyers, etc. and providing bulk mail service.

New KIA Board Member

At the November KIA Board meeting, Jared Kashiwabara of Bank of Hawaii was nominated and voted in as a Director. He has been with the bank since 2012 and has held positions in commercial banking, private banking and most recently the branch division. Jared serves the Kakaako community as the Market Manager overseeing Ward, Ala Moana, Kakaako, Keeaumoku and Beretania areas. He is a graduate of Iolani School, spent 12 years living in California for college and work before ultimately returning home to Hawaii.

KIA 2020 Membership Renewal

The membership renewal form for KIA members who are on a January to December membership status will the emailed in mid-November. Membership dues have not increased and benefits of two General Membership Meetings and two Networking Events will continue in 2020. Also next year, the KIA Board has begun plans to hold their KIA Invitational Golf Tournament. Once date, location and beneficiary are made known, the golf committee will begin to meet. Save These Dates for 2020

The two KIA General Membership Meetings will be held on Wednesday, January 29th and August 26th at Dave and Buster's from 11:30am.


The two KIA Networking Events will be held on Wednesday, April 29th and October 21st in the Restaurant Row/Waterfront Plaza conference room from 11:30am.
