KIA Member News

There was a private revealing of the Children’s Discovery Center on the 4th of July, where Sherry Goya, KIA Executive Director, was invited and took her nine-year old granddaughter, Alexis Arnold. They spent the entire two hours revisiting all three floors of the Center, and checking out all the NEW exhibits. The Center will have limited dates open for Members only on July 11th and 12; then open to the public on July 15, 18, 19, 22, 24, 25, 26, 29 and 31. Reservations need to be made in advance on their website in two-hour time slots to allow for deep cleaning between visit times. They hope to open additional days in August if there is a demand for it.

Dave and Buster's is open for games, dine-in, delivery, and To-Go. Hours listed on their website are: Sunday and Tuesday, 12noon to 10pm; Wednesday 10am to 11pm; Thursday 12noon to 10pm; with Friday and Saturday open 12noon to 12midnight. Check them out at daveandbusters.com or call 589-2215.

A virtual completion ceremony was held on the JABSOM campus on June 9, 2020, to celebrate the graduates of the ʻImi Hoʻōla Post-Baccalaureate Program. Graduates came together with nearly one hundred of their friends, families, and supporters who joined the festivities remotely. At the end of the ceremony, videos contributed by friends and family were shown to congratulate the students, many humorous and all of them heartfelt. For more information, please contact 'Imi Ho'ōla Program Assistant, Kimberly Yamauchi at kimy@hawaii.edu or 808-692-1254.

Until further notice, the Willed Body program at JABSOM is not accepting applications for new donors. Donors who are already enrolled into the program will be received if they pass. Through the Willed Body Program, first-year medical students are introduced to their silent teachers in anatomy classes.  The first thing they learn is how the body is to be treated with respect and to appreciate the opportunity the donor provides.
