A great time was had by everyone, as they enjoyed the three floors of activities. If you haven't stopped by with your children or grandchildren, you are missing a “Gem in Kakaako.” Visit them at 111 Ohe Street, check their website at www.discoverycenterhawaii.org or call 808-524-5437.
Greetings from KCAA Muriel Preschool, who has been a part of the thriving Ward Village neighborhood since 1992, and KCAA Preschools has been in operation for more than 125 years. If you would like to know more about their other four locations, please visit our website at kcaapreschools.org or call us at (808) 593-0567. The entire preschool community would like to thank the Kaka`ako Improvement Association for their continued ALOHA and support throughout the years.
Dr. Jerris Hedges, from the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), retired after 15 years as their dean earlier this month. For all the time he was the dean, JABSOM has been a valuable KIA member. In 2007, KIA celebrated their 20th anniversary by having a meeting in the JABSOM auditorium, a tour of the school, and a pupu reception in their cafeteria. Dr. Hedges has also been a speaker at two KIA General Membership Meetings over the past 15 years. KIA wishes him a “happy retirement!”
Dean Hedges is leaving JABSOM in the hands of Dr. Lee Buenconsejo-Lum, the former Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Designated Institutional Official, and Graduate Medical Education Director. She began serving as interim dean on March 1, 2023.
